Vetra Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 10/09/2025
Your privacy is very important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Vetra (operated by Vetra Tech, Inc.) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our websites and mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”). It also describes your rights and choices regarding your information, and how you can contact Vetra with any questions or concerns. This policy applies to users in the United States and Mexico. Please also review our Terms of Service for additional information governing your use of Vetra.
Vetra Tech, Inc. is headquartered in the United States (26 Archer Oak Spring, TX 77382, USA). If you are using Vetra in Mexico or another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Services, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer and processing of your information as described in this policy. This Privacy Policy is provided in English. If we provide a translation in Spanish or another language, the English version will control in the event of any conflict.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at vetradevelopment@gmail.com or at the mailing address provided in the “Contact Us” section below.
Information We Collect
Vetra collects information about you that you provide to us, that we automatically collect from your use of our Services, and that we obtain from third-party sources (such as connected apps or devices). This includes information that can directly or indirectly identify you (“personal information”). The types of information we collect include:
Account and Profile Information
When you register for a Vetra account, we collect basic account details such as your name, email address, username, password, and other profile information. You may also choose to provide additional profile details such as a profile photo, biography, gender, age or date of birth, preferred language, and location (e.g., city). This information helps create your profile and personalizes your experience on Vetra. For example, your name and profile photo are used to identify you on leaderboards, in club membership lists, and in any content you share on Vetra.
Activity and Location Data
Location Tracking: Vetra is a fitness platform, so we collect GPS and other location data when you record or upload a workout (an “activity”) using our mobile app or a connected device. This data can include your precise geographic location along your running, cycling, or walking route, as well as metrics like distance, pace, speed, elevation, and duration. We require your permission through your device settings to collect GPS location data. For example, if you use the Vetra app to track a run, we will collect GPS points to map your route and calculate your miles and pace. We do not track your device’s precise location when you are not actively using the app (i.e., not recording an activity), and you can disable location access at any time in your device settings (though core features like route mapping and nearby segment leaderboards will not function without it).
Activity Details: In addition to location, we collect other sensor and activity details when you use our Services. This includes data like step count, cadence, heart rate, power output, or other performance metrics if you record with a device that captures this information. You may also manually input activity details into Vetra’s web or mobile app (for instance, logging a workout manually). Each activity you record or upload is associated with the date, time, and type of activity (e.g., cycling, running, hiking) and any titles or descriptions you provide.
Photos, Videos, and User Content
Vetra allows you to upload photos, videos, and other media content associated with your activities or profile. If you choose to share a post-workout photo, video clip, comments, give “kudos” (likes), write gear reviews, or post in community forums or club discussions, we will collect and store that content. This includes the metadata associated with photos or videos (such as the time and location a photo was taken, if your device includes that information). For example, if you take a photo at the summit of a hike and upload it with your activity, Vetra will store the image and may display it to others based on your privacy settings. Content you share may be visible to others on Vetra according to the visibility controls you choose (explained in the Data Sharing and Visibility section below).
If you use Vetra’s in-app messaging feature to communicate with other users, we collect the content of those messages. Private messages are only visible to the senders and recipients, but Vetra may review message content if needed to enforce our policies or for safety (e.g., if a message is reported for harassment).
Health and Fitness Data from Connected Devices
With your permission, Vetra can collect health and fitness data from third-party apps and devices you connect to your account. For instance, you may link Vetra with Apple Health, Google Fit, Garmin, Fitbit, or other fitness devices and platforms. If you do this, Vetra will receive the data you authorize from those sources – such as heart rate data, step counts, calories burned, sleep statistics, or other workout details – to incorporate into your Vetra activities and profile.
Certain health-related information (like heart rate or biometric data) may be considered sensitive personal data under some laws. Vetra will only collect and use health data you choose to share with us, and in some cases we may explicitly ask for your consent as required by law. For example, on iOS devices, you might grant Vetra permission to read your heart rate and workout data from Apple HealthKit; we will use this data to provide you with analysis of your performance (such as heart rate zones during your exercise) but we will not use HealthKit data for advertising purposes or share it with third parties except as necessary to provide our Services to you (for example, syncing your workout info back to Apple Health, or as otherwise authorized by you). You can disconnect third-party integrations like Apple Health, Garmin, or Fitbit at any time via Vetra’s settings, which will stop the flow of new data from that source to Vetra (although data already collected will remain in your account unless you delete it).
Contacts and Social Connections
Vetra may offer features to help you find and connect with friends or contacts on the platform. If you choose to use these features, we may access your contacts information with your permission. For example, you might opt to import contacts from your phone address book or link a social media account (like Facebook) to find friends who also use Vetra. In doing so, you might provide us with information such as your contacts’ names, email addresses, or phone numbers. We use this information only to match you with contacts who are on Vetra or to invite friends to join (with your consent). We do not retain your contacts’ information for any other purpose, and you can disconnect your contacts list or social account from Vetra at any time. If you invite someone to Vetra and they do not join, we may periodically remind them of your invite on your behalf, but they can opt out of receiving further invitations.
Technical and Device Information
Like most online services, we automatically collect certain technical information when you use Vetra’s websites or apps. This includes:
Device and Browser Data: Information about your device and app/browser, such as device type and model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, browser type, preferred language, and app version.
Log Files and Usage Data: When you access Vetra, our servers automatically record log information, including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, dates/times of access, pages or features used, crashes or error reports, and other activity data. For example, we log when you view or like another user’s activity, join a club, or use certain features. We also collect data about how you navigate our Services, which buttons or links you click, and how long you spend on different screens, in order to better understand usage and improve the user experience.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: Vetra uses cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies on our site and app to personalize your experience and to collect usage analytics. Cookies are small data files stored on your browser or device. They help us remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and analyze site traffic. We may also use cookies or device identifiers to support targeted advertising (with your consent where required – see Personalization and Advertising below). You can manage cookies through your browser settings and manage mobile advertising identifiers through your device settings. For more details, please see our Cookie Policy (if applicable).
Payment and Transaction Information
When you make a purchase through Vetra – for example, if you subscribe to Vetra Premium or buy merchandise – we (or our third-party payment processor) collect information about the transaction. This may include your name, the products or services purchased, the date and time of the transaction, and the payment method used. Vetra uses Stripe as our payment processing partner to handle credit/debit card transactions securely. If you make a payment, you will be asked to provide typical payment details such as your credit card number, expiration date, CVV code, and billing address. Importantly, Vetra itself does not store your full credit card information. Instead, this information is collected directly by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant and specializes in secure payment processing. Stripe may store your payment credentials (e.g., to facilitate subscription renewals), and we receive a confirmation token or receipt if your payment is successful. For example, when you sign up for a Vetra Premium subscription, your payment details are transmitted securely to Stripe for processing; Stripe then informs us that the payment was approved, and we activate your subscription. We maintain a record of your purchases and subscriptions (e.g., that you bought a subscription and the last four digits of the card used) for account and customer service purposes, but we do not have access to your full card number or sensitive payment data.
Information from Other Sources
On occasion, we may receive information about you from other sources to supplement the data you provide or that we collect directly. For example, if another Vetra user tags you in an activity or photo, or if a friend uses a feature to invite you to Vetra, we may receive certain information about you (such as your name or email) from that user. We also collect feedback you provide through surveys or questionnaires, and we may gather information from public sources for safety and integrity (for instance, checking a blocked users list or verifying your identity if needed for account recovery). Any information we collect from third-party sources is combined with your account info and handled according to this Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Information
Vetra uses the information we collect for the following purposes, in reliance on a variety of legal bases (including performing our contract with you to provide the Services, pursuing our legitimate business interests in improving and securing our Services, complying with legal obligations, and/or on the basis of your consent for certain uses of sensitive data). Below we explain the main ways we use your data, with examples:
Providing and Improving the Services: We use your information to operate Vetra’s core functionality and personalize your fitness experience. This includes recording your activities, analyzing your performance, and displaying your results. For example, we use your GPS and activity data to map your route and calculate stats like pace and calories, show your performance on segment leaderboards, and compare your workout with past workouts. We also use your data to enable features like creating training plans, tracking progress toward your goals, and suggesting new routes or challenges. Additionally, we continuously improve our Services by analyzing how users interact with the app; usage data and feedback help us debug issues, develop new features, and enhance usability.
Social and Community Features: Vetra is a social fitness community. We use personal information (like your name, profile photo, and any bio you provide) and your activity content to facilitate interaction with other users. For instance, we enable you to follow other athletes, join clubs, give and receive “kudos” and comments, and participate in challenges or leaderboards. If you join a club on Vetra, your profile name and recent activities may be visible to other club members. If your privacy settings allow, we may also notify your followers when you post a new workout or achieve a personal record. When you engage in direct messaging, we use your information to deliver your messages to the intended recipients. Community features such as group activities, events, or leaderboards inherently involve sharing certain data (e.g., showing your rank in a weekly mileage leaderboard for a club), but you control what is shared publicly or with specific groups through your privacy settings.
Personalization and Recommendations: We want to make your Vetra experience as relevant as possible. We use the information we have about you to personalize content and recommendations. For example, based on your activity history and location, Vetra might suggest popular running routes in your area, recommend clubs or communities to join, or highlight users you may know or want to follow. We may also tailor the order of content in your feed to show you posts and workouts that we think will interest you most. In addition, we might analyze your performance data to provide insights or coaching tips (such as informing you that you run faster in the evenings, or suggesting a rest day based on your recent activity load).
Communications and Notifications: We use your contact information (like your email address and in-app push notification tokens) to communicate with you about the Services. This includes sending transactional communications such as account confirmations, activity summaries, security alerts (e.g., if we detect a new login or a change to your account settings), and updates about features or policy changes. We may also send you marketing communications to the extent permitted by law – for example, newsletters, workout tips, upcoming community challenges, or promotions for new features and products. If you are a subscriber on a monthly plan, we might email you an offer to switch to a discounted annual plan. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email or adjusting your account email preferences. We will not send you marketing text messages or push notifications without your consent, and you can manage push notification preferences in the app settings (for example, you can choose whether to receive alerts when someone you follow posts a new activity or when you earn an achievement).
Payments and Subscriptions: We use personal and location information to manage payments, subscriptions, and account billing. For instance, we determine pricing and applicable taxes based on your place of residence (your country or state), and we process your subscription payments through our secure payment processor (Stripe). For example, if you initiate a purchase for a training plan in Mexico, we use your provided address or device location to charge the correct currency and tax rate, and we share the necessary billing information with Stripe to complete the transaction. We also use your information to keep records of your purchases, send you receipts or subscription renewal reminders, and handle any billing inquiries or disputes.
Safety, Security, and Integrity: Keeping Vetra safe and fair is a top priority. We use data to prevent fraud, abuse, and legal violations. For example, we monitor activities and content for signs of cheating (like unrealistic speed or GPS anomalies) or violations of our community guidelines (such as hate speech or harassment in comments or messages). We may use automated systems to flag suspicious behavior (multiple accounts, use of banned apps, etc.) and to detect content that violates our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use policies. We also use your information to enforce our policies and to take action against bad actors (which could include warnings, content removal, or account suspension/termination in serious cases). Additionally, we utilize log data and device information (like IP addresses and device IDs) to help diagnose technical issues, secure user accounts (for example, to detect if someone else is trying to log into your account), and protect our Services against attacks. If you are under 18, we provide additional protections (see Children’s Privacy below) such as defaulting your account to more private settings, and we use your date of birth to ensure we apply those protections and comply with age-related legal requirements.
Analytics and Research: We use aggregated and de-identified information to understand trends and preferences in our user base. Internally, this helps us analyze which features are popular, how users engage with new updates, and where we can improve the Services. We may also conduct surveys or research (sometimes in collaboration with academic or industry partners) to gain insights into fitness trends, the impact of our platform, or ways to promote health and wellness. Any publication of research findings would only use data in an anonymized, aggregated form – for example, we might publish that “Vetra runners in Mexico City ran an average of 10 km per week in 2025,” without revealing personal details of individual users.
Legal Compliance and Legitimate Business Interests: We may use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules, regulatory requirements, or responding to lawful requests by public authorities. Additionally, we process and, if needed, preserve your data in connection with the exercise or defense of legal claims, to investigate or address disputes, and to enforce our contracts (Terms of Service) with you. For instance, if required by law enforcement or court order, we might use and produce relevant information to comply with such demands. We also use data for routine business administration such as maintaining records, ensuring your privacy choices are respected across our systems, and sending you notices about our terms or policies.
We will only use your personal information for the purposes above or for compatible purposes. If we need to use your data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and, if required, seek your consent.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary gain. However, we do share certain information in the course of running our business and providing the Services. We share information with others as described below, in accordance with your privacy settings and applicable law:
Service Providers and Partners
We share your information with third-party companies that help us operate and support the Vetra Services. These service providers perform functions such as: hosting our data and infrastructure, analytics, email communication, customer support ticketing, marketing (on our behalf), and processing payments. These third parties are authorized to access personal information only as needed to perform their services for us and are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the agreed-upon purposes.
For example, as noted, we use Stripe to process subscription and purchase payments – so when you make a payment, relevant billing information is transmitted to Stripe. We may also use cloud hosting providers (for example, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud) to store databases, meaning your data resides on their secure servers under our control. If we use analytics services or marketing email platforms, those providers will process some of your personal data (like your device identifiers or email address and usage events) strictly for our analytics or outreach purposes and not for their own use. We ensure that all service providers handling personal data are subject to obligations to safeguard your information.
Public and Community Sharing (Your Privacy Controls)
Vetra is built for sharing fitness accomplishments and encouraging community interaction, but you have control over who can see your information. We provide privacy settings that let you manage the visibility of your activities and profile information. By default, when you join Vetra, your profile information (name, profile photo, bio, and general stats) and your activities may be visible to other Vetra users. If you are 18 or older, new accounts are set to “Everyone” visibility by default (meaning other Vetra users – and in some cases the general public, including via search engines – can view your profile and posted activities). If you are a minor under 18, we set your profile and activities to a more restricted privacy setting by default (for example, visible only to your approved followers) for added safety.
You can change the visibility of your profile and each activity at any time. Vetra offers controls such as:
Profile Visibility: You can set your profile to be visible to Everyone (public), Friends/Followers Only (only people you have approved), or Only You (fully private profile). A public profile may be indexed by search engines, meaning someone could find your Vetra profile by searching your name.
Activity Visibility: Each workout you upload can likewise be set to Everyone, Followers Only, or Only You. You can choose a default for all activities in your settings and adjust visibility for individual activities. If an activity is public, the route map, photos, and details of that workout can be seen by anyone on Vetra (and potentially by non-logged-in visitors if you share a public link). Public activities might also appear in leaderboards, public club feeds, or challenges. If an activity is set to Followers Only, then only your approved followers (and you) can see the full details. A private (“Only You”) activity is visible only to you (and to Vetra administrators if necessary for support or safety monitoring, but not to other users).
Map Visibility and Hidden Locations: We understand you may want to keep certain location details private (such as your home or workplace). Vetra provides tools to hide or obscure portions of your GPS tracks. For example, you can specify a privacy radius around a sensitive address so that the start/end points of your runs or rides in that zone will be hidden from others, even if the activity is otherwise visible. By default, Vetra may automatically hide a small portion of the start and end of your recorded routes to protect your privacy, which you can adjust in settings.
It’s important to note that any information you choose to make public (including personal data you share in a public profile or a publicly visible workout) can be viewed and used by anyone. For example, if you post a public cycling route, other users may use the route or share the URL, and your performance on that route might be visible on a public leaderboard. Likewise, if you participate in a public club or challenge, your name and stats (like total miles run in a week) may be visible to all participants. Vetra encourages you to review your privacy settings to ensure they align with your preferences.
Aside from what you choose to share publicly or within the Vetra community, Vetra does not expose your personal information to anyone in a way that is inconsistent with your settings. By adjusting your controls, you decide the audience for each piece of content. We also allow you to block other users, which prevents them from seeing your activities and interacting with you on Vetra.
Sharing Through Social Features and Third-Party Platforms
Vetra enables you to connect with other apps and social networks to share your fitness content beyond our platform, but these are entirely at your discretion. If you choose to link your Vetra account to a third-party app or share content externally, we will share information as needed to fulfill that request:
Connected Fitness Apps/Devices: When you connect accounts (for example, linking your Vetra to a Garmin, Fitbit, or other partner app), you are allowing data exchange between Vetra and that third party. This means we might send your workout data to that app and/or receive data from it, depending on what you authorize. For instance, if you link your Garmin account, when you finish a run with your Garmin watch, Garmin’s platform will send the activity file (including GPS route and sensor data) to Vetra so that the run appears in your Vetra feed. Conversely, if you connect Apple Health, with your consent Vetra might write your workouts into your Apple Health app on your iPhone so that your exercise data is consolidated there. We only share the information necessary to integrate the services, and the third party’s use of that information is governed by their own privacy policy. We recommend you review the privacy policies of any third-party services you connect to understand how they handle your data. You can disconnect an integration at any time via Vetra or the third-party app’s settings, which will stop further data sharing (but won’t automatically delete data that has already been exchanged).
Social Media Sharing: Vetra provides options for you to share your activities or achievements on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or X (formerly Twitter). If you choose to share an activity to a social network via built-in Vetra features (for example, tapping a “Share” button to post your workout summary to Instagram), we will generate content (like an image or a link) and transfer the necessary information to that platform. This could include your activity map snapshot, stats like distance or time, and a link back to Vetra. We do not share your data with social networks unless you actively choose to share or connect your accounts for that purpose. Once shared, your information will be subject to the third party’s terms and privacy practices (e.g., if you post your run to Facebook, Facebook’s handling of that post is governed by their privacy policy). We encourage you to use caution and review privacy settings on those platforms when sharing from Vetra.
Leaderboard and Competition Data: If you participate in competitive features like segment leaderboards, challenges, or virtual races, certain information about your performance will be visible to others by design. For example, if you run a popular segment (a defined stretch of route) and your activity is set to “Everyone,” your time and rank on that segment’s leaderboard will be visible to all Vetra users who look at that segment. Your profile name (and photo) will be listed next to your leaderboard entry. If you prefer not to be listed on leaderboards, you can either make the activity private or adjust your settings to exclude that activity from segment competition. Similarly, if you join a monthly challenge (like “Run 100 km in January”), your progress and completion status might be visible to other challenge participants or on a public challenge page. We try to make it clear when you join such features what data will be shared. If you have questions about how any specific feature displays your information, please consult Vetra’s support resources or reach out to us.
Targeted Advertising and Analytics
Vetra does not sell your personal data to advertisers, and we do not share information that directly identifies you (such as your name or email) with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We may, however, work with advertising partners (like ad networks or social media platforms) to show relevant promotions for Vetra or to promote Vetra content on other services. For example, we might use a Facebook or Google advertising service to reach people with ads about our platform, and we could provide a hashed identifier or device ID to them to help identify the right audience. These partners might also use cookies or tracking tech to collect information about your activity on our website (with your consent via our cookie banner) to serve ads that are more relevant to you. If you have consented to non-essential cookies, you may see targeted ads for Vetra on other sites or in your social media feeds. You have the ability to opt out of such data sharing for advertising – for instance, by using a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link on our website (for California residents and others as applicable) or toggling off certain cookie categories in our cookie preferences center. Additionally, device settings on iOS or Android allow you to limit ad tracking. Keep in mind, even if you opt out of targeted advertising, you may still see ads about Vetra or our partners, but they would be based on context (e.g., the website you are visiting) rather than tailored to you.
We also use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, or similar in-app analytics SDKs) to understand how users use our Services. These providers may receive technical information about your use of Vetra (for example, your device identifiers and what pages you visit or actions you take within the app) to help us analyze usage and improve the product. These analytics data are generally tied to pseudonymous identifiers (like a random user ID) and not your name or email. Analytics providers are prohibited from using the data for any purpose other than providing services to us under our instructions.
Aggregated and De-Identified Information
We may aggregate or de-identify your personal information so that it can no longer be linked to you individually, and share that data with third parties or publicly. For example, we might compile anonymous statistics about overall app usage or fitness trends: such as the average number of weekly workouts logged by Vetra users in the U.S., or creating a heatmap of popular running routes in Mexico City based on aggregated, anonymized GPS data. This aggregated information contains no personal identifiers and cannot be traced back to you. We use and share such information for business, research, or marketing purposes – for instance, to help city planners understand exercise patterns, or to share interesting community insights (like “Our users around the world ran a total of 5 million kilometers last month”) in marketing materials. When we de-identify data, we maintain it in that form and do not attempt to re-associate it with individual users.
Business Transfers
If Vetra Tech, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or reorganization, your personal information may be transferred to the successor or affiliate as part of that transaction. If such a transfer occurs, your information will remain subject to the promises and protections of this Privacy Policy (unless you’re notified otherwise and consent to any new terms). We would provide notice through the Services (e.g., via email or a prominent notice on our site) of any significant change in ownership or control of your personal information, along with any choices you may have.
Legal Compliance and Protection
We may preserve, access, or disclose your information to third parties (such as government authorities, law enforcement, or private litigants) when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is required or permitted by law. This includes situations such as: responding to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; addressing intellectual property infringement or violations of law; preventing or addressing fraud and financial risk; enforcing our Terms of Service or other agreements; responding to an emergency that poses a threat to health or safety; or protecting the rights, property, or safety of Vetra, our employees, users, or the public.
For example, if we receive a valid court order to provide information about a user’s account (perhaps as part of an investigation), we may be legally obligated to disclose certain data. Wherever feasible and legally permissible, we will attempt to redirect such requests to you or notify you of them (for instance, if a government agency requests your data, we might let you know and give you the opportunity to object) – however, we may not do so if we are legally barred from informing you or if the matter is urgent or involves potential harm. We will only disclose the minimum amount of information necessary to comply with our legal obligations or protect vital interests, and we will object to requests we believe are improper.
Data Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it. Vetra employs a combination of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of your data. These measures include, for example:
Encryption: Sensitive data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. For certain sensitive information (such as passwords and payment data), we also utilize encryption at rest. (Note: Passwords are stored in hashed form and never in plain text.)
Access Controls: We limit internal access to personal data on a need-to-know basis. Only authorized Vetra employees, contractors, and service providers who require your information to perform their duties (such as customer support or system administration) are given access, and they are bound by strict confidentiality obligations. Our staff are trained on privacy and security best practices.
Security Testing and Audits: We routinely monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. We use firewalls and intrusion detection systems to guard our network. Regular security assessments (including penetration testing and code reviews) are conducted to evaluate and improve our protections. We also stay updated on emerging threats and update our safeguards accordingly.
Third-Party Security: When we work with service providers that handle personal data (like our hosting or payment partners), we ensure they have robust security measures in place. For example, Stripe as our payment processor is certified to PCI DSS, reflecting strong controls around payment data security.
Data Backups and Recovery: We maintain secure backups of critical data to prevent loss and to ensure continuity of the Services. Backups are encrypted and stored in secure environments. We also have incident response plans for promptly addressing any security breaches or data incidents, should they occur.
While we strive to protect your information, no system is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. It is also important for you to play a role in keeping your information safe. Choose a strong, unique password for your Vetra account and do not share it with others. Be cautious of “phishing” attempts – Vetra will never ask you for your password via email. If you suspect any unauthorized access to your account or notice any unusual activity, please notify us immediately. We will investigate and take appropriate steps to secure your account.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services to you and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In practice, this means:
Account Information and Content: As long as you maintain an active Vetra account, we will keep the information you have provided (such as your profile data and activities) so that the Services function as intended. Your activity history, posts, and other content remain available in your account until you choose to remove them or delete your account. If you delete a specific activity or piece of content, it will no longer be visible to you or others in the app, but residual copies may persist in our backup systems for a limited period (which are then overwritten in the normal backup cycle). We aim to fully remove deleted content from active databases promptly, though indexing by search engines or caching by others beyond our control may take time to expire.
Account Deletion: If you choose to delete your Vetra account, we will initiate the process of removing or anonymizing the personal data associated with your account. Most of your data will be permanently deleted, including your personal profile information and activities, and you will no longer be able to recover that information. Certain data may be retained in a depersonalized form (for example, your contributions to aggregated statistics will simply become part of the aggregate without identifying you). In some cases, we may retain limited information even after account deletion if necessary for legal compliance or legitimate business purposes – for instance, we might keep transaction records (showing that a payment was made, without retaining personal details beyond what’s needed for financial audits), or we may retain information needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements (such as records of prior misuse of the platform to ensure a banned user is not re-admitted).
Legal and Business Requirements: We may retain certain information for periods required by law. For example, financial and payment data may be kept for accounting/tax purposes typically for at least 5-7 years (as required by law in some jurisdictions). If a legal claim is anticipated or ongoing, we will retain relevant information until it is resolved. We also maintain server logs and backups for security, fraud detection, and reliability of our service. These logs are generally kept for a short period (e.g., a few months) unless they are being reviewed for specific investigations. Backup data is stored securely and rotated out on a regular schedule.
Once the retention period expires, and we have no ongoing legitimate need or legal obligation to keep your data, we will delete it or anonymize it. Where data deletion is not feasible (e.g., because it’s stored in long-term backups), we will ensure it is securely stored and isolated from further use until deletion is possible.
Your Rights and Choices
You have various rights and choices regarding your personal information and how it is used and shared. Vetra is committed to providing you with tools to exercise these rights through the Services, as well as by contacting us directly. Your principal rights include:
Access and Portability: You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to access that information. Much of your data is available to view directly in your account (for example, you can see your profile info and full activity history once logged in). If you require a comprehensive export, you can request a copy of your data. We provide a data download tool that allows you to export your activities and certain account information in a portable format. To access this, go to your account settings and select the option to download or export your data. If you need additional assistance or a specific format, contact us at privacy@vetra.com. We will provide your information in a commonly used electronic format, and you can request this information up to the extent allowed by applicable law.
Correction (Rectification): We want to ensure your information is accurate and up-to-date. Through your account settings, you can edit or correct most of your personal details at any time (for example, you can update your email address if it changes, correct your name spelling, or modify your profile information). If you discover any information that is inaccurate or incomplete that you cannot directly change, you have the right to request that we correct it. Contact us with the details, and we will promptly make the correction if we are able to, or work with you to resolve it.
Deletion (Right to Erasure/Cancellation): You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. As noted in Data Retention, you can delete individual activities or other content (which removes them from view on our service). You also have the option to delete your entire account via the account settings page (look for an option like “Delete Account”). Deleting your account initiates the process of erasing your personal data from our systems, as described above. If you need assistance with deletion or have questions about what will be removed, you can contact our support. Please note that after confirming account deletion, your profile and activities will be permanently removed and we won’t be able to recover them. However, certain information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate purposes (e.g., basic transaction records, or to honor opt-out preferences). If you do not want to delete your account but wish to stop using Vetra, you can also simply stop using the Services and/or adjust your privacy settings to limit data collection (for example, turning off GPS tracking or disconnecting third-party integrations). Keep in mind that uninstalling the app or logging out does not automatically delete your account or data.
Objection to Processing (Opt-Out): Depending on the laws of your jurisdiction, you may have the right to object to or restrict certain types of data processing. For example, in some cases you can request that we stop processing your data for direct marketing or profiling purposes. In practice, we allow you to opt out of marketing emails and push notifications as described above. You can also opt out of certain cookie-based tracking for targeted ads (via the cookie settings or device settings). If we are processing your data based on our legitimate interest (and not for purposes you have consented to), you can object to that processing and we will evaluate your request. If we have compelling lawful grounds or it is needed for legal reasons, we may continue certain processing, but we will inform you. Otherwise, we will honor valid objections and stop the processing in question (for instance, if you object to us using your usage data for analytics, we will stop using it if required by law).
Withdrawal of Consent: In scenarios where we rely on your consent to process data (such as health data, or integrating with certain third-party services), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing done before you withdrew consent, but it will mean we stop the specific processing going forward. For example, if you had given explicit consent for Vetra to process your heart rate and other health data, you can withdraw consent by disconnecting the health data source and adjusting your settings to stop sharing that data with Vetra. After withdrawal, we will no longer collect or use new health data from you, and you can request that we delete any previously collected health data. Similarly, if you consented to share data with a specific third-party (like a sponsored event partner), you can revoke that consent and we will stop any further sharing with that partner.
Privacy Controls and Settings: As detailed, you have in-app privacy settings that give you control over what is shared and with whom. We encourage you to make use of these controls. You can review and change your default profile and activity visibility settings, manage connected apps/devices, and adjust what types of notifications or social sharing you want. Utilizing these controls is a key way to exercise your privacy choices on an ongoing basis.
California and U.S. State Privacy Rights: If you are a resident of California or certain other U.S. states (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, etc.), you may have additional rights under state law. These can include the right to know what categories of personal information we have collected and disclosed about you, the right to request deletion or correction of your data, the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (as defined by state law), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. Vetra’s policy is to extend fundamental privacy rights to all our users in the U.S., but we also specifically note: we do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly defined. If you are a California resident, you can request a notice identifying the categories of personal information we have shared with third parties for their direct marketing purposes (under California’s “Shine the Light” law) – however, Vetra does not share personal data with third parties for their own direct marketing use without your consent. For all state-specific requests, you (or an authorized agent acting on your behalf) can contact us through the channels in the “Contact Us” section. We will verify your identity (or the agent’s authority) before fulfilling such requests, which may involve asking you to log in or provide certain information. We endeavor to respond to verifiable requests within the timeframe required by law.
Mexico Privacy Rights (ARCO): Users in Mexico have specific legal rights over their personal data, including the rights of Access, Rectification, Cancellation, and Opposition (collectively known as ARCO rights) under Mexico’s data protection laws. These essentially correspond to the rights discussed above: the right to access your data, correct it if it’s wrong, request its cancellation/deletion, and object to certain processing. Vetra respects these rights. If you are located in Mexico, you may exercise your ARCO rights by submitting a request to us (see “Contact Us” below). Please clearly indicate that you are making an “ARCO rights request” and specify which right you seek to exercise, along with enough information for us to verify your identity (we want to ensure we’re acting on the request of the correct individual). We will acknowledge and respond to your request within the timeframe required by Mexican law. If for some reason we cannot fulfill your request (e.g., due to a legal obligation to retain certain data), we will inform you and explain the basis for the denial or limitation. Also, if you believe your data rights have been violated, Mexican residents have the right to file a complaint with the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection (INAI) or the appropriate data protection authority in Mexico.
Complaints and Questions: We value your privacy and will do our best to address any concerns you have about your personal information. If you have a complaint about our data practices or believe we have not complied with this Privacy Policy or applicable law, you have the right to contact us and we will investigate the issue. Additionally, as noted, you may have the right to escalate a complaint to a regulatory authority. For example, in the U.S., you can contact your state’s Attorney General or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC); in Mexico, INAI as mentioned. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly first, so please consider reaching out to us so we can attempt to resolve the matter.
Verification and Authorized Agents: When you exercise certain rights (access, deletion, etc.), we need to verify that you are the rightful account holder or an authorized representative. This is to protect your privacy and prevent fraudulent requests. Verification may involve logging into your account, responding to a confirmation email or message, or providing information that we can match against our records. If you use an authorized agent (for instance, you give someone legal authority or a power of attorney to make a request on your behalf), we will require proof of that authorization and still take steps to verify your identity with you directly, as required by law.
Children’s Privacy
Vetra’s Services are not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, you may not create an account or use the Services. Parents or guardians should not allow children under 13 to use Vetra. In the event we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.
For teens who are old enough to use Vetra (for example, 13 and up, or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), we provide additional privacy protections for users under 18. We encourage parents and guardians to be aware of and guide their teenagers’ use of online platforms. On Vetra, when a minor under 18 creates an account, we set their default privacy controls to more protective settings (such as making their profile and activities visible only to approved followers, rather than public). We also restrict certain features for minors to provide a safer experience. For instance, users under 16 might be prevented from sharing heart rate or other sensitive health data on the platform, and users under 18 might have limitations on features like public leaderboards or in-app messaging capabilities. These measures are in place to comply with regulations and to safeguard younger users. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe Vetra may have collected information from your child under 13 or you have concerns about your teen’s account, please contact us so we can investigate and address the issue.
International Data Transfers
As mentioned in the Introduction, Vetra Tech, Inc. is a U.S.-based company and the majority of our infrastructure is located in the United States. If you are accessing Vetra from outside the U.S. (for example, from Mexico), be aware that your information will be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers are located. Data protection laws in these jurisdictions may not be as comprehensive or protective as those in your country. However, we take steps to ensure that your personal information receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
For transfers of personal data from Mexico or other countries to the U.S., we rely on your consent (by using our Services, you are consenting to the transfer), as well as contractual protections where applicable. We apply the same robust privacy and security measures to all users’ data, regardless of location. If in the future Vetra expands to regions like the European Union or others with specific transfer requirements, we will implement appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved mechanisms) to comply with those laws. While Mexican law does not prohibit cross-border transfers, it requires that the receiver of personal data (our U.S. entity or any foreign processors we use) also protect the data in accordance with principles similar to Mexico’s law. We are committed to honoring that by contract and policy.
By using the Services and providing information to us, you acknowledge the transfer of your personal information to the U.S. and other jurisdictions as described here.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. If we make changes, we will post the updated policy with a new effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will provide a prominent notice of such changes, which may include notifications via email or within the app. We may also summarize the key changes for your convenience.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. If you object to any changes in the Privacy Policy, you have the right to stop using the Services and may delete your account. By continuing to use Vetra after a revised Privacy Policy has become effective, you acknowledge and agree to the updated terms.
